When visitors arrive in Acapulco, they may hear about "Las Brisas" but not know exactly where it is or what to expect.
The term "Las Brisas" primarily refers to the luxury Las Brisas Hotel, perched high above Acapulco Bay on the eastern slopes of the surrounding hills. But beyond the hotel, as you drive up the Scenic Highway (Carretera Escénica) toward Puerto Marqués, you’ll enter the Las Brisas neighborhood—one of the wealthiest residential areas in the city. Here, multi-million-dollar villas are nestled into the hillside, offering stunning views of Acapulco Bay and the Golden Zone. Some of the higher neighborhoods also boast views of Puerto Marqués, Playa Revolcadero, Laguna de Tres Palos, or even Isla Roqueta at the bay’s mouth.

Along the Scenic Highway in the Las Brisas area, you’ll find some of Acapulco’s most elegant restaurants as well as top-tier nightclubs.
At the highest point of the area, the large cross of the Chapel of Peace (Capilla de la Paz) stands proudly, overlooking the landscape. Situated within the exclusive, gated community of Las Brisas, the chapel is open to visitors who can present their credentials to the gate guard during operating hours. Visitors can also enjoy a stroll through the beautiful neighborhoods surrounding the chapel, though entry may be restricted unless one can provide a legitimate reason to the security guard.
Technically, Las Brisas is a collective term that refers to several contiguous neighborhoods spread across the hillside, extending from the Navy Base and continuing towards Puerto Marqués. Some of the most notable neighborhoods include:
The only way to access Las Brisas is via the Scenic Highway (Carretera Escénica). The area is not pedestrian-friendly, and walking along or crossing the highway can be dangerous. The narrow road has blind curves, minimal shoulder space, and limited room for vehicles, making it hazardous for pedestrians. To add to the challenge, drivers—including buses and police vehicles—often take the curves at high speeds.
A common misconception is that Las Brisas offers great beaches. While a few villas at the lower levels have access to small beaches, the area is not known for its beachfront. Some beach clubs have been built along the coast, but in general, Las Brisas is not a beach destination. What it does offer, however, are breathtaking panoramic views of Acapulco, especially at night. For more information on Acapulco’s beaches, click here.
Capilla de la Paz

La Capilla de la Paz (The Chapel of Peace) is a striking, non-denominational church that stands out due to its towering 130-foot cross, visible from nearly every point around Acapulco Bay. Situated high on the cliffs of Las Brisas (about 1,200 feet above sea level), the chapel is accessible via the Scenic Highway.
To visit, take the highway from the city and make a sharp left at the grand entrance to the Las Brisas gated community (note: not the hotel entrance). A security guard will grant you access to the chapel during its operating hours, from 10 am to 6 pm.
Whether you come to pray or simply enjoy the magnificent views of the city and the surrounding affluent neighborhoods, the Chapel of Peace offers a serene and beautiful experience. It’s a unique stop on your tour of Acapulco's exclusive side.
