Continental Cuisine
Decades ago, “continental” was a synonym for suave, worldly and sophisticated. Eventually it became another way of describing European cuisine, particularly French mixed with Italian. Today, if a restaurant says it offers “continental fare,” it means that it has a menu that presents both French and Northern Italian dishes, but not pasta and pizza. In Acapulco, a “continental” menu would almost certainly have several seafood selections, using the recipes of the Mediterranean from Provence to Capri.
