Mandil Verde
Mandil Verde is a local "pozolería," or Mexican restaurant specializing in pozole, a dish widely served throughout Acapulco, especially on Thursdays. It is a chicken or pork stew (or sometimes with fish or shell fish) and pearl hominy, accompanied by garnishes and sauces. El Mandil Verde also offers several other traditional Mexican dishes on its menu, like filete tampiqueña and enchiladas, all served with liberal portions of frijoles and rice. The totpos (deep fried tortilla chips) with guacamole are a staple for the beer and cocktail crowd. The décor is authentic and uncomplicated, but bright and pleasant. The service is attentive. Because the prices are so reasonable, El Mandil Verde is a frequent stopping place for the well-informed tourists and locals (mainly during the off season).
