Club del Sol Acapulco began in 1976’s, and was rejuvenated in 1990. After falling on hard times for a couple of years, it was acquired in 2006 by a new management group called NGH (new generation of hotels), which gave the property a thorough renovation and modernization (during most of 2007). As of the summer of 2008, the Club de Sol Acapulco is in full operation and has recaptured, if not exceeded, its former glory. Because of the many changes that have occurred in this property, anyone looking for Internet information on the Club de Sol Acapulco should be careful to ensure that the site is current. The Club Sol de Acapulco is truly a club in the sense that it has sold its occupancy on a fractional basis, and the timeshare owners are considered members. It is not necessary to buy a timeshare in order to stay at the Club Sol de Acapulco.
The facility is located on the Costera Alemán across the street from the Crowne Plaza Hotel, and two blocks from the Diana traffic circle. The airport is a little over half an hour away and the downtown area is just 20 minutes in the other direction. The Club Sol de Acapulco offers its guests 380 spacious accommodations in 5 buildings, supported by 2 main pools and a terrace sundeck complete with a bar and two smaller pools and hot tubs. The hotel has a restaurant and two other bars.
