Hotel Information
The Avalon’s rooms are large, each with its own private balcony. The views from the room are either up to the Sierra Madres on one side, or out to the Pacific Ocean on the other. Choose between a king size bed or two doubles. The suites have a kitchenette and living room as well. Amenities include air conditioning, color TV, an in-room safe, toiletries, and all the other features one should expect from a fine hotel. Children up to 6 stay free with their parents. Children from 7-12 stay at a reduced rate.
The main restaurant at Avalon Excalibur is called Bellavista, which serves three meals daily. The focus is on a blend of international cuisine (Asian, American and Continental) with traditional Mexican dishes.
El Cocotero is found near the beach and specializes in seafood items, without neglecting those who prefer other choices. Traditional Mexican meals are also served. It is open for breakfast and lunch.
Both restaurants serve buffet-style for the all-inclusive plan. A la carte choices are also offered, but outside the plan.
The Palenque Bar is by the pool, offering snacks, appetizers and light entrées as well as drinks and refreshments of all kinds. Sir Lancelot is an open-air burger and hot dog stand.
The Wild Things Kids Program is a special collection of activities for the kids, taking special advantage of Acapulco’s Papagayo Park, which is directly across the street from the hotel. Grown ups will enjoy the beautiful beach and the shade of the palapas. All manner of aquatic sports are options for guests, from snorkeling and boogie-boarding to taking trips on yachts and scuba lessons.
Motorized aquatic sports always involve an additional cost. In the evenings, the staff members organize events around a given theme, or parties of different kinds. Often they present special entertainment.
Naturally, all the activities open to visitors to Acapulco are available to guests of the Avalon Excalibur, through the concierge desk. Examples are sightseeing trips, shopping, visits to the marina or the Cici Water Park, day trips to other places (like Taxco), or nocturnal outings to famous bars, restaurants or dance clubs. The hotel can provide special rates or discounts for many of these options.
A beauty salon on premises can provide not only hair and nail care, but other spa treatments as well. Massage treatment rooms are on the premises. The hotel also provides guests with an exercise gym.
The concierge can arrange a tee time at the local municipal course or at one of the championship courses on the outskirts of Acapulco.
The hotel itself provides a convenience store and a gift shop. Almost directly across the street is the Gran Plaza shopping mall, and beyond that, down the Costera Alemán, a number of other shopping areas as well. Native artwork is usually on sale in an open air market right outside the hotel, as well as up and down the beach.
Meetings and Conventions. Ample space for meetings and special events is available for groups up to 250, including thee ballrooms. The Acapulco is on the top floor of the hotel and has a commanding view of the bay. Events are supported by the hotel’s meeting coordinators and the banquets and catering team. The latest audio-visual and computer technologies are readily available to meeting hosts and sponsors.
The large outdoor pool and beautiful Jacuzzi are reason enough to stay at the hotel and enjoy the sun, the quiet and the poolside bar service. A children's splash pool and play area is nearby. On the beach, nearly four dozen palapas provide shade and a base of operation for those wishing to enjoy the beach.
